What Causes Infections – Vaccinations

This module focuses on infections and the causes of infections. Patients with the symptoms of infection present daily at pharmacy counters. Many infections can be treated with Over The Counter (OTC) solutions or indeed will be managed with OTC products. This module is part 1 of 2 and looks at what causes infections.

Flu Vaccination for Healthcare Workers – What you need to know

Between 200 and 500 people die each year of influenza in Ireland and thousands more require hospitalisation to treat flu related illness.  Whether your pharmacy offers a flu vaccination service or not, this module is relevant for you, as you are a pharmacy healthcare worker.  The choices you make regarding flu vaccination impact your colleagues, your patients.  It is vital that you have accurate, evidence based information so that you can offer best practice advice and make informed decisions about being vaccinated yourself.

The national HPV vaccination programme for girls aged 12- 13 years began in 2010. This is carried out by HSE vaccination teams in second level schools.From September 2019, the programme extended to include 12 – 13-year-old boys. While the Vaccination will not be carried out in the Pharmacy or Pharmacy Setting, you may be asked questions relating to HPV and the Vaccine from concerned patients. This module is designed for Pharmacists and Pharmacy technicians to provide you with the most up to date information available to support vaccination. (Part 1 of 3)

OTC Cases Vaccinations

The following course is presented as a number of Simulated Consultations, relating to a customer interaction relating to vaccinations.  Course participants should review each consultation as instructed and use the STEPS® Consultation Video Review Form provided to take any notes.

It should be noted that none of the consultations purport to be ‘perfect’ and should be reviewed in the context of a live interaction and used to discuss among your colleagues using the STEPS® Consultation framework as your guide.

Required Time in Course is 15 mins

Students completing these courses will be awarded the 4Front Vaccination Badge.
