Both viruses and bacteria can cause a sore throat.  Viruses are the most common causes, with 90% of all throat infections caused by viruses, most frequently the cold or flu viruses. As we prepare for winter a common presentation in the Pharmacy will be Sore Throats. This course is aligned with courses on: Respiratory System, What Causes Infections, Managing Infections, OTC Products for Sore Throat,  Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Consultation Skills in the Pharmacy. Products: Difflam, Flursil, Strepsils, Lysopadol, Oraldene, Pharmony, Septabene, TCP Liquid Antiseptic, Tyrozets Lozenges.

This course focuses on ‘the respiratory system’ or how we breathe. The respiratory system is divided into 2 parts – the upper and lower respiratory tracts. Products for Sore Throats are often requested at the pharmacy counter. In this course we will review some of the more common products available. Not all products can be reviewed, so you can look at active ingredient also as a guide. This is part 1 of 2 lessons on products for Sore Throat and includes: Difflam, Flursil, Strepsils Intensive, Lysopadol, Oraldene, Pharmony Throat Syrup.

Products for Sore Throats are often requested at the pharmacy counter. In this course we will review some of the more common products available. Not all products can be reviewed, so you can look at active ingredient also as a guide. This is part 2 of 2 lessons on products for Sore Throat and includes: Septabene, Septabene Oromucosal Spray, Strepsils Lozenges, Strepsils Plus Lozenges, Strepsils Extra Blackcurrant Lozenges, TCP Liquid Antiseptic, Tyrozets Lozenges.
