Description
The skin is the largest organ of the human body accounting for 12 to 15% of human body weight and covers approximately 1.2 to 2 meters squared of surface area. In an adult, it is estimated to weigh approximately 4kg. Linked with the skins, is the importance of sun health and protecting our skin form overexposure to the sun.

The Skin

Non Infective Skin Conditions
Skin conditions commonly present during summer and warmer months. In this module we will look at some of the more common non infective skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. A separate module on Psoriasis is also available.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes patches or ‘plaques’ of thick, red scaly skin that may be associated with profound itching . It can be located in any region of the body with the scalp being among the most commonly affected areas. This module will provide you with a detailed overview of the classification, disease process, triggers and impact of Psoriasis.
Sun Health Introduction
The aim of the sun health module is to provide all pharmacy staff with useful information, tools and appropriate resources to enable each of you to provide safe and effective products and advice to customers around their skin and sun health and to confidently identify when referral is required. It should be viewed in conjunction with Sun Health and The Skin, Vitamin D and Sun cream labels.
Sun Health and The Skin
The aim of the sun health and skin module is to provide all pharmacy staff with useful information, tools and appropriate resources to enable each of you to provide safe and effective products and advice to customers around their skin and sun health and to confidently identify when referral is required.
Vitamin D-The Sunshine Vitamin
Vitamin D is often called the ‘sunshine’ vitamin. In fact Vitamin D refers to a number of fat soluble compounds such as Vitamin D1 to Vitamin D5. In humans the most important compounds are Vitamin D2 and D3
Sun Health-Sunscreen Labels
This module focuses on ‘Sunscreen labels’ and is the last part of our ‘Sun Health Series’. You can now achieve your first Once you complete all the modules in the ‘Sun Health’ Series, you will be awarded 4Front Pharmacy’s ‘Sun Care Pharmacy Specialist’ digital badge, which is valid for one year from date of issue
Sun Health & Eye Care
The aim of the sun health and eye care module is to provide all pharmacy staff with useful information, tools and appropriate resources to enable each of you to provide safe and effective products and advice to customers around their eye care and sun health and to confidently identify when referral is required.
Students completing these courses will be awarded the 4Front Skin & Sun Health Badge.
